EAST AFRICAN e-PASSPORTS

The Kenya Embassy in the Iran is currently not in a position to receive applications for the e-passports, therefore Kenyans in the Iran are advised to apply for their e-passports online on www.ecitizen.go.ke and submit their duly filled applications forms to the Kenyan Embassies in Dubai.

1. NEW/REPLACEMENT OF AN EXISTING PASSPORT

All applicants must submit:

i. 1 duly filled and signed e-Citizen passport application form

ii. 2 payment invoices of the prescribed passport fee downloaded from e-Citizen

iii. Original passport and a photocopy of the last three and photo page;

iv. Original Kenyan ID card and a photocopy of the front and back;

v. Your original birth certificate and a photocopy of the front and back;

vi. Your original Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by naturalization and a photocopy of the front and back;

vii. 3 biometric passport size photos;

viii. A photocopy of the Kenyan recommender’s ID card (front and back). The recommender should not be related  to the applicant and should sign the recommender’s section on the application form;

ix. A photocopy of your residence registration as proof of residential address.

In addition;

  • Children born in the Iran: Original Birth Certificate and copy and copies of parents passports.
  • For change of name: Original and copy of your marriage certificate, or divorce decrees (translated into English); or Original and copy of a Deed Poll (if your change of name was not through marriage)
  • For children who were previously endorsed in parents passport original birth certificate: Copies of pages showing their previous endorsement in the parents passport.
  • For lost passport: In addition to the general passport requirements, a  police abstract/report and any other relevant identification document may be required

2. EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Emergency Travel Documents are issued to Kenyans upon submitting proof of nationality and loss or expiry of previous documents as one travel document to Kenya. The requirements are same as for passport.

3. CERTIFICATE OF IDENTITY

May be issued to those qualified

NOTE: CHILDREN ARE NO LONGER ENDORSED IN THE PARENTS PASSPORT.

4. DECLARATION OF DUAL NATIONALITY

 i. 2 copies of duly filled Form 2

ii. Copy of Kenyan passport and, or ID card

iii. Copy of passport of the other country

iv. 2 passport-sized photographs

v. Copy of Naturalization certificate (front and back)

vi. Letter stating that you are declaring dual nationality

5. REGAINING KENYA CITIZENSHIP

i. 2 copies of duly filled Form 5

ii. 2 copies of proof of previously held Kenyan citizenship

iii. 2 copies of Dutch or other country passport/ID

iv. 2 passport-size photographs

v. Letter by applicant expressing desire to regain Kenyan citizenship

vi. Fee of 50 Euros for the application

6. RENUNCIATION OF KENYAN CITIZENSHIP

i. 2 copies of duly filled and notarized Form 15

ii. Copy of Naturalization certificate (front and back)

iii. Original Kenyan passport

iv. Copy of Dutch passport

v. 2 passport-size photographs

vi. Letter by applicant stating that they are voluntarily renouncing their Kenyan citizenship

vii. Fee of 200 Euros for the application

7. CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT

 A person, who has resided in Kenya and wishes to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct, is required to avail the following to be taken to the Director of Criminal Investigations.

i. Two passport-size photographs

ii. Copy of the applicant’s passport

iii. Copy of the applicant’s residence permit/ proof of residence status in the Iran

iv. Copy of the applicant’s national ID card

v. Finger prints taken by a recognized government authority or embassy official

vi. Letter stating why the certificate is needed

vii. Duly filled application form

viii. Fee of 10 Euros for the application.

8. CERTIFICATE OF NO IMPEDIMENT TO MARRIAGE

 For a Kenyan to marry in Iran a current Certificate of No Impediment to marriage is required. This can be applied for through the Embassy or directly from the Registrar of Marriages in Nairobi, Kenya. The requirements for the certificate are as follows:

i. Duly filled application form (Form 7)

ii. Original copies of both parties passports, passport copies, passport-size photographs

iii. Applicant’s birth certificate and copy

iv. Letter from applicant expressing why they are applying for a certificate of no impediment to marriage and a letter from the other party indicating their intention to marry/ be married to the applicant

v. Copy of residence permit/proof of residence status of the applicant

vi. Fee of 100 Euros for the application

vii. In the case that any party is divorced or is widowed the necessary certificate copies must be submitted.

On the other hand, Non-Kenyans intending to conduct marriage in Kenya are required to produce the following documents:

i. Birth certificates

ii. Valid passports

iii. Decree Absolutes (if divorced)

iv. Death certificates (if widowed)

v. Separate statutory declarations sworn at a Solicitors/Public Notary office, stating that one is single and free to marry. This should bear the solicitors signature and official stamp

vi. Parental consent in form of legal documents for persons  below the age of twenty-one (21)

Important to note:

Death and repatriation of remains

  • The Cargo departments of the various airlines are responsible for the transportation of the deceased
  • The Funeral Home involved arranges bookings with the relevant Cargo office
  • The death certificate is required
  • Confirmation that the coffin is hermetically sealed for carriage by air is required
